Postcard "Mandala of the 5 Elements" of Tibetan Buddhist Art. Mandala of the 5 Elements: earth, water, fire, air and space. At the backside you'll find the following text:
The basis of Indian Ayurvedic Medicine was formed by the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space. This system was later incorporated in Tibetan Medicine. Inside ourselves, these elements correspond to our chakras and are correlated to different emotions, temperaments, colors, tastes, body types, illnesses, thinking styles, and character. This mandala was used to explain the relationship between the diseases and their treatments.
The painting is a copy of my teacher Andy Weber's 'Mandala of the 5 elements' which is, in turn, a replica of a 16th century Nepalese paining.
